Fergus Falls - Riverview Waterfowl Sanctuary

Commorants by J. WickFeatures: This sanctuary includes the Otter Tail River within the city of Fergus Falls with easy viewing of ducks, geese and swans.

Best Times to Visit: The area is used by birds throughout all seasons; winter provides views of the Trumpeter Swan.

Birds To Look For: Trumpeter Swans, Canada Geese; Mallards; Wood Ducks and Ring-necked ducks.

Fergus Falls - Lake Alice

Features: This site is a small island on Lake Alice, located within the city limits. Since 2000, the island has
housed nests of various species of colonial water birds, providing an up-close view of these fascinating birds.

Best Times to Visit: Nesting birds are from early May through the end of July.

Birds To Look For: Double-crested Cormorants; Great Egrets and Black-crowned Night Herons.

Notes For Birding The Area: The island can be viewed from W. Lakeshore Drive.
