Wetlands, Pines and Prairie Audubon Sanctuary

Wetland Pine to Prairie Audubon Sanctuary by David ArscottFeatures: The site is 800 acres in size and includes wetlands, waterways, tree plantings, trails and an interpretive center. The center is staffed by a director and tours are available to individuals and school groups. Call for hours and availability. This site is owned by the Agassiz Chapter of the National Audubon Society.

Best Times To Visit: May through June, August through October.

Birds To Look For: Many passerines, especially during migration. American Bittern; Long-eared and Short-eared Owls; Gray Partridge; Black-billed Cuckoo; Western Kingbird; grassland sparrows; Orchard Oriole.

Notes For Birding The Area: Stop at the visitor center or information kiosk and sign guest book. Bird checklist available. Trails are open to the public. Watch for moose.
